Answer
...And Justice for All
...And Justice for All was the Metallica album that first featured Jason Newsted as a credited studio band member before The Black Album.
Newsted joined Metallica in 1986 after bassist Cliff Burton died in a touring-bus accident. His first Metallica release was the 1987 EP The $5.98 E.P. – Garage Days Re-Revisited, but ...And Justice for All was his first full studio album with the band.
The 1988 album is notable for its complex arrangements, long songs, and famously restrained audible bass presence in the original mix. Newsted received a writing credit on “Blackened,” the opening track, although the album's principal songwriting credits went to James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich, with Kirk Hammett also credited on several songs.
Newsted then played bass on The Black Album, where his musical ideas contributed to “My Friend of Misery.” A frequent mistake is naming Master of Puppets, but that album was recorded before Burton's death and was the last Metallica studio album to feature Burton.
