Which member of Fleetwood Mac was born in Phoenix, Arizona?

The story behind the answer

Stevie Nicks was the Fleetwood Mac member born in Phoenix, Arizona.

Stephanie Lynn Nicks was born on 26 May 1948 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix. She later became one of Fleetwood Mac’s most recognizable singers and songwriters, but her birthplace is easy to overlook because her family moved frequently during her childhood.

Nicks’ father worked as a vice president for Greyhound, and the family lived in places including Albuquerque, El Paso, Salt Lake City, Los Angeles and San Francisco. Her grandfather encouraged her musical interests, and she began performing and writing songs before joining Fleetwood Mac.

Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham joined Fleetwood Mac in 1975, helping create the line-up behind albums such as Fleetwood Mac and Rumours. Her Phoenix birth also connects to her enduring association with Arizona: she later lived in Paradise Valley, near Phoenix, for many years. Mick Fleetwood was born in Cornwall, while Christine McVie and Lindsey Buckingham were born elsewhere in England and the United States.
