Which McDonaldland character was presented as the community’s mayor?

Mayor McCheese was presented as the mayor of McDonaldland.

Mayor McCheese was one of the central characters in McDonald’s McDonaldland advertising. He was depicted as a political leader with a large cheeseburger for a head, combining a civic title with a visual reference to McDonald’s food. The character appeared in commercials and promotional material alongside Ronald McDonald and other residents of the fictional setting.

The character’s title helped McDonaldland feel like a complete community rather than a collection of unrelated mascots. Other characters filled different roles, including the Hamburglar, Grimace, and Captain Crook. Their distinct names, costumes, and personalities created a recurring cast for television advertising.

Mayor McCheese is sometimes confused with Officer Big Mac, another character associated with McDonaldland. The mayor’s defining role was political leadership, while Officer Big Mac was associated with law enforcement.
