Rayan Cherki provided two assists as a substitute for Manchester City against Bournemouth in the 2026–27 Premier League opener.
Manchester City beat Bournemouth 2–1 at the Etihad Stadium on 23 August 2026. Bournemouth took the lead through Marcus Tavernier, but City turned the match around late in the second half.
Cherki came on shortly after the hour mark and created both City goals. His corner led to Marc Guéhi’s equaliser, and his intricate pass set up Joško Gvardiol’s stoppage-time winner.
The match began Enzo Maresca’s reign as Manchester City manager after he replaced Pep Guardiola. It was also Marco Rose’s first Bournemouth match in charge. Bournemouth had never led at the Etihad before taking the advantage in this fixture.
