Erling Haaland failed to score on the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend for the first time.
Manchester City hosted Bournemouth on Sunday 23 August 2026 and won 2–1 after coming from behind. Haaland played in the match but did not register a goal, ending his personal run of scoring in previous Premier League opening weekends.
The result was still positive for City because late goals from Marcus Tavernier and Joško Gvardiol overturned Bournemouth’s early advantage. Haaland’s blank therefore did not prevent Manchester City from taking three points.
This fact concerns the opening weekend specifically, not Haaland’s entire Premier League record. It is also separate from the question of who scored Manchester City’s winning goal: Gvardiol completed the comeback in stoppage time.
