Marc Guéhi equalised for Manchester City against Bournemouth in the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend.
Guéhi headed Manchester City level after Bournemouth had taken the lead at the Etihad Stadium. City eventually won 2–1, with Joško Gvardiol scoring the stoppage-time winner after Guéhi’s equaliser.
The match was Guéhi’s first Premier League appearance for City in a notably unusual role. Rather than starting at centre-back, he was deployed in central midfield by new manager Enzo Maresca. His equalising header therefore added a scoring contribution to an unexpected tactical assignment.
Bournemouth’s Marcus Tavernier scored the opening goal in the 26th minute. Rayan Cherki assisted both of City’s late goals after coming on as a substitute, but he did not score either one. Guéhi’s goal was the equaliser; Gvardiol’s strike was the decisive winner.
