Rayan Cherki assisted both Manchester City goals in the 2–1 comeback against Bournemouth in 2026–27 Matchweek 1.
Bournemouth led at the Etihad Stadium after Marcus Tavernier scored in the 26th minute. Manchester City then recovered late, with Marc Guéhi equalising through a header before Joško Gvardiol scored the winner in stoppage time.
Cherki came off the bench shortly after the hour mark and changed the match. His first assist came from a corner for Guéhi’s goal, while his second was an intricate pass that set up Gvardiol’s decisive strike.
The victory began Enzo Maresca’s reign as Manchester City manager following Pep Guardiola’s departure. It also ended Bournemouth’s run of 18 Premier League matches without defeat. For Bournemouth, it was their first loss since selling Antoine Semenyo to City in January.
