Enzo Maresca won his first Premier League match in charge of Manchester City during the 2026–27 opening weekend.
Maresca began his Manchester City reign with a 2–1 comeback victory over Bournemouth on Sunday, 23 August 2026. Bournemouth led for much of the match after Marcus Tavernier’s 26th-minute goal, but City scored twice late to take all three points.
Marc Guéhi equalised with a header before Joško Gvardiol scored the stoppage-time winner. Rayan Cherki, introduced from the bench, supplied assists for both goals and became a major factor in the turnaround.
Maresca had replaced Pep Guardiola before the season began, so the match marked a significant managerial transition for City. The result also ended Bournemouth’s run of 18 Premier League matches without defeat.
