Which luxury fashion house introduced the Speedy handbag in 1930?

The story behind the answer

Louis Vuitton introduced the Speedy handbag in 1930.

The Speedy developed from Louis Vuitton’s travel-bag tradition and was designed as a smaller, more practical companion to the house’s luggage. Its soft construction made it easier to carry than a rigid suitcase, while the compact shape suited everyday use.

The bag is closely associated with Louis Vuitton’s Monogram canvas, although Speedy versions have also appeared in other materials, colors, and sizes. The Speedy 25, Speedy 30, Speedy 35, and Speedy 40 refer broadly to the bag’s approximate width in centimeters, rather than separate brand names.

A common mix-up is confusing the Speedy with the Keepall. Louis Vuitton introduced the Keepall as a larger travel bag in 1924, while the Speedy followed in 1930 as a smaller handbag. The Speedy is also distinct from the Neverfull, a later open tote introduced in 2007.
