LEGO Friends is the LEGO theme introduced in 2012 around characters such as Emma, Mia, and Olivia.
The theme is set mainly in the fictional city of Heartlake City and follows a group of friends involved in everyday activities, hobbies, work, and community life. Its sets commonly include homes, cafés, shops, schools, animal-care settings, and recreational locations.
LEGO Friends was developed as a successor to earlier LEGO product lines marketed toward girls, including Belville and Scala. It introduced a distinctive mini-doll figure design that is taller and more stylized than the classic LEGO minifigure. The two figure formats are not identical, although both are compatible with many LEGO building elements.
The theme expanded through television specials, animated series, books, and new character generations. In 2023, LEGO refreshed the line with updated characters while keeping the Heartlake City setting and its friendship-based storytelling.
