LEGO Art is the LEGO product line launched in 2020 with mosaic-style portraits and wall art.
The LEGO Art range is designed primarily as a creative display experience rather than a traditional playset. Its sets use many small round elements, often called 1-by-1 round tiles or plates, to create pixel-like images. Early releases included portraits of musicians, comic-book characters and major works of art.
The first LEGO Art sets included Andy Warhol’s Marilyn Monroe, The Beatles, Marvel Studios Iron Man and Star Wars-themed portraits. Many sets can be rearranged into more than one image, and some include a soundtrack or audio content intended to accompany the building process.
LEGO Art is different from LEGO Architecture, which focuses on three-dimensional models of real buildings and landmarks. It is also separate from LEGO Ideas, where fan-submitted concepts can become official sets. The Art line helped LEGO move mosaic building from an occasional technique into a clearly defined product range for older builders and home display.
