Which LEGO video game was the first to use the construction brand in a licensed Star Wars adventure?

The story behind the answer

LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game was the first game to use the LEGO brand in a licensed Star Wars adventure.

Released in 2005, the game adapted events from the Star Wars prequel trilogy: The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. Its levels used humorous LEGO-style versions of characters, vehicles, locations and action scenes from the films.

The game was developed by Traveller's Tales and published by Eidos Interactive in collaboration with LucasArts. Its cooperative gameplay, accessible controls and playful treatment of the source material helped establish a successful formula for later LEGO games.

It is distinct from LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy, which followed in 2006 and covered the original trilogy. The two games were later combined and expanded in LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga, but that compilation was not the first release.
