LEGO Hidden Side introduced supernatural stories, including a police force, criminals and vehicles in the fictional city of Newbury.
The theme launched in 2019 and combined physical LEGO models with an augmented-reality mobile application. Builders could scan sets with a compatible device to reveal digital ghosts, puzzles and changing features connected with the model.
Newbury is the fictional setting for the theme, which follows characters confronting paranormal activity. Sets include locations, vehicles and minifigures linked to ghost hunting and the town’s supernatural events. Some models contain mechanisms that physically change when a play feature is activated.
LEGO Hidden Side is not the same as LEGO Ghostbusters, even though both involve ghosts. Ghostbusters is a licensed theme based on a film franchise, whereas Hidden Side is an original LEGO story world built around augmented reality and paranormal mysteries.
