Which LEGO Star Wars set became the largest LEGO set ever released when it launched in 2017?

The story behind the answer

LEGO Star Wars set 75192, the Ultimate Collector Series Millennium Falcon, became the largest LEGO set ever released when it launched in 2017.

The model contains 7,541 pieces and can be built as either the classic original-trilogy version or the modified ship associated with the sequel trilogy. It includes minifigures such as Han Solo, Chewbacca, Princess Leia, and older Han Solo, depending on the configuration represented by the included parts.

The set is often confused with the earlier UCS Millennium Falcon, set 10179, which was released in 2007 and contained 5,195 pieces. Set 75192 surpassed it by more than 2,300 pieces and was also substantially larger in physical size.

LEGO has since released other enormous Star Wars sets, including the UCS AT-AT and Razor Crest, but 75192 remains especially notable for combining a high piece count with a recognisable vehicle from several Star Wars films.
