Which LEGO set was the first official set based on the Taj Mahal?

The story behind the answer

The first official LEGO set based on the Taj Mahal was Taj Mahal 10189.

Set 10189 was released in 2008 as part of LEGO’s Architecture line. It represented the white marble mausoleum in Agra, India, with repeated arches, domes and decorative detailing adapted to the scale and limitations of LEGO construction.

The set became notable for its size and piece count and was later reissued in a revised form as set 10256. The reissue used the same general subject but had a different set number and a small number of changes.

This distinction matters because LEGO has released multiple Taj Mahal products. The 2008 model is 10189, while 10256 is the later reissue. LEGO Architecture also includes many other famous landmarks, but the Taj Mahal set is especially associated with the line’s large early landmark models.
