Emmet is the main protagonist in The LEGO Movie, the 2014 animated comedy adventure.
Emmet is introduced as an ordinary construction worker who follows the instructions of his society. After accidentally finding the Piece of Resistance, he becomes involved in a conflict between free-building creativity and Lord Business’s plan to impose order with the Kragle.
Wyldstyle, Benny and Lord Business are major characters, but none is the film’s central protagonist. Wyldstyle acts as an important partner and guide, Benny is the enthusiastic space-themed builder, and Lord Business is the principal antagonist.
Chris Pratt provides Emmet’s voice in the English-language film. The character’s ordinary personality is central to the story: the film presents creativity as something that can belong to everyone, not only to an exceptional master builder. The movie’s success led to spin-offs and related LEGO films.
