Which Japanese studio developed and published Palworld?
Answer
Pocketpair
Answer
Pocketpair
Palworld was developed and published by Pocketpair, a Japanese independent video game company based in Shinagawa, Tokyo. The company created the game as an open-world survival and monster-taming project featuring creatures called Pals.
Pocketpair announced Palworld in 2021 after developing earlier games including Overdungeon and Craftopia. The studio drew on survival-game ideas associated with titles such as Ark: Survival Evolved and Rust, while adding creature collection, base building, exploration, and combat. Palworld entered early access in January 2024 for Windows and Xbox platforms.
Players sometimes assume a larger publisher such as Aniplex or Krafton made Palworld because both companies later became connected to the franchise. Aniplex joined Sony Music and Pocketpair in a venture focused on licensing and merchandise, while Krafton partnered on a mobile adaptation. Neither replaced Pocketpair as the game’s original developer and publisher.
