Which James Bond film was Daniel Craig’s first appearance as 007?

The story behind the answer

Casino Royale was Daniel Craig’s first appearance as James Bond.

Released in 2006, Casino Royale rebooted the official film continuity and showed Bond at the beginning of his career as a 00 agent. Craig replaced Pierce Brosnan, whose final Bond film had been Die Another Day in 2002.

The film adapts Ian Fleming’s first Bond novel, published in 1953. Its main plot follows Bond’s attempt to defeat financier Le Chiffre in a high-stakes poker game at the Casino Royale in Montenegro. Mads Mikkelsen played Le Chiffre, while Eva Green portrayed Vesper Lynd.

Craig went on to play Bond in five films: Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, Spectre, and No Time to Die. Although Quantum of Solace was released next, Casino Royale is the correct answer because it introduced Craig in the role.
