Which James Bond film is set partly in North Korea and Cuba?

The story behind the answer

Die Another Day is set partly in North Korea and Cuba.

The 2002 film begins with Bond infiltrating North Korea, where he is captured and later exchanged after enduring imprisonment. The story then takes him to Cuba, where he investigates a clinic connected to genetic therapy and the villain’s plan.

Pierce Brosnan played Bond, Halle Berry portrayed NSA agent Jinx, and Toby Stephens played Gustav Graves. Lee Tamahori directed the film, which was released during the 40th anniversary period of the official Bond series.

The movie uses fictionalized and stylized versions of its locations, so its Korean and Cuban settings are part of the thriller’s constructed world. It is often confused with Tomorrow Never Dies, whose main geopolitical setting involves China and a media magnate’s attempt to provoke conflict.
