Which James Bond film introduced the villain Emilio Largo?

The story behind the answer

Thunderball introduced the villain Emilio Largo.

Played by Adolfo Celi, Largo is a senior figure in SPECTRE and the organization’s operational leader for the theft of two nuclear warheads. He serves as the main physical and strategic opponent to Sean Connery’s James Bond in the 1965 film.

Largo’s headquarters, the massive yacht Disco Volante, and the underwater recovery operation define much of Thunderball’s action. The film was adapted from Ian Fleming’s 1961 novel Thunderball, whose publication followed a legal dispute involving Kevin McClory and others who had worked on an earlier screenplay project. Because of that history, McClory later produced the non-Eon remake Never Say Never Again, which also draws on the Thunderball storyline.
