Which James Bond film features the villainous island nation of San Monique?
Answer
Live and Let Die
Answer
Live and Let Die
The James Bond film Live and Let Die features the fictional Caribbean island nation of San Monique.
Released in 1973, Live and Let Die follows Roger Moore in his first appearance as James Bond. San Monique is controlled by Dr. Kananga, a Caribbean dictator who also operates in New Orleans under the identity of drug lord Mr. Big. The island’s setting gives the film much of its Caribbean atmosphere and connects its political and criminal plotlines.
San Monique is fictional, although the production used real locations in Jamaica and other areas. The film is sometimes remembered mainly for its Louisiana chase scenes and its use of voodoo imagery, but the island is an important part of the story. Live and Let Die also introduced Sheriff J. W. Pepper, a recurring comic character who returned in The Man with the Golden Gun.
