GoldenEye features James Bond’s bungee jump from Switzerland’s Verzasca Dam.
The jump appears near the beginning of the 1995 film, when Pierce Brosnan’s Bond infiltrates a Soviet chemical-weapons facility. Bond leaps from the dam and uses a bungee cord to reach the structure below, creating one of the film’s signature opening images.
The stunt was performed at the Contra Dam, also called the Verzasca Dam, in the canton of Ticino, Switzerland. The dam’s distinctive curved concrete wall helped make the scene visually memorable, and the sequence became one of the most celebrated stunts in the series.
GoldenEye was Brosnan’s first appearance as James Bond and the first Bond film after Licence to Kill in 1989. The film also introduced the post-Cold War version of 007 and earned strong worldwide box-office results.
