Which Italian Assassin is the central protagonist of Assassin's Creed II, Brotherhood, and Revelations?

The story behind the answer

Ezio Auditore is the central protagonist of Assassin's Creed II, Brotherhood, and Revelations.

Ezio is introduced as a young Florentine nobleman in Assassin's Creed II, which begins in late-fifteenth-century Italy. After a conspiracy destroys much of his family, he becomes involved with the Assassin Brotherhood and pursues the people responsible. His journey takes him across Florence, Venice, Forlì, and other Renaissance locations.

The three games are often called the Ezio trilogy. Brotherhood continues his story in Rome and focuses heavily on rebuilding and directing the Assassin Brotherhood. Revelations follows Ezio to Constantinople, where he investigates Altaïr's legacy. A common mix-up is treating Ezio as the hero of the original game; that role belongs to Altaïr. Ezio's Italian setting and long character arc made him one of the franchise's most recognizable protagonists.
