Kassandra is the canon protagonist of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.
Odyssey lets players choose between Kassandra and Alexios at the beginning of the game. The selected character becomes the playable misthios, or mercenary, during the story set in ancient Greece. Ubisoft’s wider narrative identifies Kassandra as the canonical version of the protagonist.
The game takes place during the Peloponnesian War, beginning in 431 BCE. Kassandra’s journey involves family conflict, the Cult of Kosmos, ancient Greek politics, and encounters with historical figures. Her choices affect many scenes, but the character’s canonical identity remains Kassandra.
Alexios is not simply an unrelated alternative hero: when Kassandra is selected, he appears in the story as Deimos, a major antagonist associated with the Cult of Kosmos. This role reversal is why the two names can cause confusion when discussing the game’s plot.
