Which island is the largest in the Philippines?
Answer
Luzon
Answer
Luzon
Luzon is the largest island in the Philippines.
Located in the northern Philippines, Luzon covers about 109,000 square kilometres. It is the country’s most populous island and contains Manila, the national capital, along with the surrounding National Capital Region.
The island includes several major mountain systems, fertile plains, and active volcanoes. Mount Pinatubo became internationally famous after its enormous 1991 eruption, while Mayon is known for its unusually symmetrical cone.
Luzon has played a central role in Philippine history because Manila developed as a major colonial port and administrative centre. The island is connected culturally and economically to the Visayas and Mindanao but remains geographically distinct from both.
