Which island contains the UNESCO-listed volcanic landscape of Teide National Park?

The story behind the answer

Tenerife contains Teide National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site centered on the volcanic peak of Mount Teide.

Tenerife is the largest and most populous island of the Canary Islands, an autonomous community of Spain in the Atlantic Ocean. Mount Teide rises to 3,715 metres above sea level, making it Spain’s highest point and the highest peak above sea level in the Atlantic islands.

Teide National Park became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007. Its landscape includes lava flows, volcanic cones, calderas, and high-altitude plants adapted to strong sunlight and limited moisture.

Tenerife is sometimes confused with La Palma, another volcanic Canary Island known for Caldera de Taburiente National Park. Teide, however, is specifically associated with Tenerife and dominates the island’s central landscape.
