Nobel Mendy scored on his Hull City debut against Manchester United in the 2026–27 Premier League opener.
The Senegal international doubled Hull’s lead seven minutes before half-time, heading Regan Slater’s precise free-kick past Manchester United goalkeeper Senne Lammens. His goal made the score 2–0 and completed a memorable first-half performance by the home side.
Mendy was one of three summer recruits selected in Hull’s starting XI. His immediate contribution was particularly valuable because Hull were returning to the Premier League after a nine-year absence and were facing one of England’s most famous clubs.
Mendy’s goal is sometimes confused with Semi Ajayi’s opener, which arrived in the 17th minute. Ajayi scored first, while Mendy supplied the second goal. Hull held on for a clean-sheet victory, giving manager Sergej Jakirovic a notable start in the division.
