Semi Ajayi scored Hull City’s opening goal in their 2–0 victory over Manchester United during the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend.
Ajayi struck in the 17th minute at Hull’s MKM Stadium. His goal followed a shot from Oli McBurnie that Manchester United goalkeeper Senne Lammens tipped onto the post. Ajayi reacted quickest and hammered the ball home to give Hull a historic lead.
Hull had returned to the top flight after a nine-year absence, making the result especially notable. The win was also Hull’s first top-flight victory over Manchester United since 1974, when both clubs were competing in the old Second Division.
Nobel Mendy scored Hull’s second goal seven minutes before half-time, heading in a free-kick from Regan Slater. That means Mendy was the other Hull scorer, but Ajayi was the player who opened the match’s scoring.
