Semi Ajayi scored Hull City’s opening goal in their 2–0 win over Manchester United on the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend.
Ajayi struck in the 17th minute at MKM Stadium. His goal followed a Manchester United attack in which goalkeeper Senne Lammens had turned an Oli McBurnie effort onto the post. Ajayi reacted quickest to finish the move and put Hull ahead.
Nobel Mendy added Hull’s second goal before half-time, heading in from a Regan Slater free-kick. Both Hull scorers later left the match with injuries, but their first-half contributions secured a memorable result.
The victory was Hull’s first Premier League win over Manchester United. It was also the Tigers’ first top-flight appearance since returning after a nine-year absence.
