Which host presented The Late Late Show on CBS from 1999 to 2004?

The story behind the answer

Craig Kilborn hosted CBS’s The Late Late Show from 1999 to 2004.

Kilborn succeeded Tom Snyder in March 1999 and brought a more comedy-driven tone to the program. Before joining CBS, he had become known as the original host of Comedy Central’s The Daily Show, where his anchor-style delivery was a central part of the show’s early identity.

During Kilborn’s tenure, The Late Late Show featured celebrity interviews, monologues, comedy pieces, and the recurring segment “Yambo.” The program occupied the time slot after The Late Show with David Letterman, making it part of CBS’s broader late-night lineup.

Kilborn left the series in August 2004. Craig Ferguson became his successor later that year, so Ferguson is often associated with the program’s earlier history even though he did not host its first decade. James Corden took over much later, in 2015.
