Quidditch is the broomstick sport featured in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter books.
Two teams play Quidditch while flying on broomsticks. Players pursue the Quaffle, avoid or strike Bludgers, and try to catch the Golden Snitch. A successful Quaffle goal is worth 10 points, while catching the Snitch is worth 150 points and normally ends the match. These unusual scoring rules make the Seeker’s role especially important.
Harry plays Seeker for the Gryffindor team at Hogwarts. His position requires him to locate and catch the small, fast Golden Snitch rather than focus on ordinary goal-scoring. The sport appears throughout the novels and also became a major visual feature of the film adaptations.
Quidditch is fictional, but Rowling’s world-building gave it enough rules and equipment to inspire real-world recreational versions. Muggle Quidditch later developed as a non-magical sport, with players running instead of flying.
