Megadeth's mascot is the zombie-like character Vic Rattlehead.
Vic is depicted as a skeletal figure in a suit, with a visor covering his eyes, metal caps sealing his ears, and clamps over his mouth. The design represents the familiar “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil” idea while also symbolizing censorship and the suppression of expression.
Megadeth leader Dave Mustaine created the original concept, and Vic first appeared on the cover of the band's debut album, Killing Is My Business... and Business Is Good!, released in 1985. The character then became a recurring presence in Megadeth artwork, merchandise, and videos.
The name combines “victim” with “rattlehead,” a phrase connected to Mustaine's childhood warning about headbanging. Vic is sometimes confused with Iron Maiden's Eddie or Motörhead's Snaggletooth, but those are mascots of different metal bands.
