Which Genesis chapter describes Noah's Ark coming to rest on the mountains of Ararat?

The story behind the answer

Genesis 8 describes Noah's Ark coming to rest on the mountains of Ararat.

Genesis 8:4 says that in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat. The wording refers to a mountain region rather than naming one uniquely identified peak. Afterward, the waters continue to decrease, and Noah uses the raven and dove to test whether the land is ready.

This is different from the Quranic wording, which names Mount Judi as the place where Noah's vessel settles. It is also different from later efforts to identify a specific modern mountain as the ark's destination. Genesis itself uses the plural “mountains of Ararat,” so the text does not establish a precise summit or archaeological location. Genesis 6 and 7 describe construction and the flood's rise, while Genesis 9 follows the post-flood covenant. The chapter containing the ark's resting place is therefore Genesis 8.
