Which game is the best-selling title on the original PlayStation?

Gran Turismo is the best-selling game released for the original PlayStation.

Polyphony Digital developed Gran Turismo, and Sony Computer Entertainment published it for PlayStation in Japan in 1997 before releasing it in other regions. The game focused on realistic driving, licensed cars, and track-based racing rather than the more arcade-oriented style common in many earlier console racers.

Its career-style Gran Turismo mode required players to earn licenses, buy vehicles, and win events. The title's combination of simulation features and accessible controls helped it reach a broad audience.

Gran Turismo sold more than 10 million copies worldwide and became the foundation of one of PlayStation's most important first-party franchises. It is distinct from Gran Turismo 2, which followed on the original PlayStation and expanded the series' content significantly.
