Which game begins the story of Ezio Auditore in the Assassin’s Creed series?

The story behind the answer

Assassin’s Creed II begins the story of Ezio Auditore.

Released in 2009, Assassin’s Creed II follows Ezio from his youth in Renaissance Florence through his transformation into an Assassin. The game’s historical campaign spans several Italian locations, including Florence, Monteriggioni, Venice, and Forlì, and takes place mainly during the late fifteenth century.

Ezio’s family is drawn into a Templar conspiracy after the execution of his father and brothers. Guided by figures including his uncle Mario and the inventor Leonardo da Vinci, Ezio learns the Assassin way while pursuing those responsible.

Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood and Assassin’s Creed Revelations continue Ezio’s story rather than introducing him. Brotherhood focuses heavily on Rome, while Revelations follows Ezio in Constantinople and connects his story to Altaïr’s.
