Which Fleetwood Mac album is a double album?
Answer
Tusk
Answer
Tusk
Tusk is the Fleetwood Mac album that was released as a double album. Its two-record format reflected the band's ambition to make a sprawling, unusually experimental follow-up to the massive success of Rumours.
Tusk was released in 1979, with the US release dated October 12. The album contains 20 tracks and runs for more than 73 minutes. Lindsey Buckingham pushed the group toward a more unconventional sound, combining home-recorded demos, unusual percussion, and stark production with the band's familiar vocal harmonies.
The project was extraordinarily expensive for its era, with production costs later reported at roughly $1.4 million. That made it a commercial disappointment compared with Rumours, although Tusk still reached number four on the Billboard 200 and later earned a strong critical reputation. Rumours, Mirage, and Tango in the Night were standard studio albums rather than Fleetwood Mac double albums. A possible source of confusion is Live, a separate double live album released in 1980.
