Which fixture was the only Monday match in the 2026–27 Premier League opening round?

Fulham versus Chelsea was the only Monday match in the 2026–27 Premier League opening round.

The west London derby was scheduled for Monday, 24 August 2026, at Craven Cottage. It brought together two clubs based close to the River Thames and completed the first round of fixtures.

The other nine opening-round matches were played from Friday through Sunday. Arsenal versus Coventry City began the season on Friday, while the largest group of fixtures took place on Saturday.

Chelsea won the match 3–2 away from home. Because it was a derby and the final game of the opening round, the fixture attracted attention beyond its position in the schedule. Fulham’s home stadium, Craven Cottage, is one of the Premier League’s distinctive historic grounds.
