Which film was the first Disney production in the Winnie-the-Pooh film series?

The story behind the answer

Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree was the first Disney production in the Winnie-the-Pooh film series.

The animated featurette was released in 1966 and became Disney’s first screen adaptation of Milne’s Pooh stories. It was produced after Disney licensed relevant Pooh rights in 1961 and was originally designed as a shorter theatrical presentation rather than a full-length animated film.

The production was followed by Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day in 1968 and Winnie the Pooh and Tigger Too in 1974. These three featurettes were later combined into the 1977 feature-length film The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.

This history explains why The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh is sometimes mistakenly called the first Disney Pooh film. It was the first feature-length compilation, but Honey Tree was the earlier Disney production in the series.
