What title did Irena Tuwim give her 1938 Polish translation of Winnie-the-Pooh?

The story behind the answer

Irena Tuwim titled her 1938 Polish translation of Winnie-the-Pooh Kubuś Puchatek.

Tuwim’s version became the classic Polish rendering of Milne’s book. Rather than translating every phrase literally, it adapted the story’s language and humor to Polish readers, helping the characters sound natural and familiar in that language.

A very different Polish translation appeared in 1986, when Monika Adamczyk-Garbowska published Fredzia Phi-Phi. That version aimed to remain closer to Milne’s original wording and linguistic subtleties, but its title and character names caused considerable controversy among Polish readers.

The two Polish versions are often confused because both are recognized translations of the same English book. Kubuś Puchatek is the earlier 1938 translation by Tuwim; Fredzia Phi-Phi belongs to the later 1986 translation by Adamczyk-Garbowska.
