Which film introduced the Fast & Furious character Han Lue?

The story behind the answer

The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift introduced Han Lue to the Fast & Furious film series.

Sung Kang played Han, a calm and highly skilled driver who mentors Sean Boswell in Tokyo. Han works with the character known as the Drift King and becomes one of the film’s most memorable figures. His apparent death near the end of Tokyo Drift later became a major continuity issue for the franchise.

The series subsequently placed Han in the story of earlier-released films, including Fast & Furious, Fast Five, and Fast & Furious 6. This revised chronology allowed audiences to see more of Han’s friendship with Dominic Toretto’s group before the Tokyo Drift events.

Han had also appeared in the earlier independent film Better Luck Tomorrow, directed by Justin Lin, but Tokyo Drift is his introduction within the Fast & Furious franchise. That distinction explains why some viewers remember Han before the film’s release order seems to allow.
