Which film introduced Luke Hobbs to the Fast & Furious franchise?

The story behind the answer

Fast Five introduced Luke Hobbs to the Fast & Furious franchise.

Released in 2011, Fast Five casts Dwayne Johnson as DSS agent Luke Hobbs. Hobbs initially pursues Dominic Toretto and Brian O’Conner after their escape from custody, making him an antagonist to the crew. His role changes when he recognizes the threat posed by Brazilian businessman Hernan Reyes and cooperates with Dom’s team.

The film marked a major shift in the series from street-racing stories toward large-scale action and heist adventures. Hobbs became a recurring ally in later main-series films, including Fast & Furious 6, Furious 7, The Fate of the Furious, and F9: The Fast Saga.

Johnson also reprised the character in the spin-off Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw. The character’s first appearance is sometimes mistakenly attributed to a later film because Hobbs became more closely associated with the franchise after the spin-off and subsequent sequels.
