Which film did Beyoncé voice Nala in?

The story behind the answer

Beyoncé voiced the adult Nala in The Lion King, the 2019 photorealistic animated remake.

Directed by Jon Favreau, the film reimagines Disney's 1994 traditionally animated feature using computer-generated imagery designed to resemble live-action wildlife footage. Beyoncé joined a cast that included Donald Glover as adult Simba, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, and James Earl Jones, who reprised Mufasa.

Her performance included both dialogue and singing. She recorded “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” with Donald Glover for the film's soundtrack. Beyoncé also curated and produced The Lion King: The Gift, a companion album inspired by the film and released in 2019.

Nala is Simba's childhood friend and eventual queen. The role is sometimes confused with Beyoncé's later voice work in the 2024 film Mufasa: The Lion King, where her daughter Blue Ivy Carter voiced Kiara.
