Which fictional school do Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger attend?

Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Hogwarts is the principal school of magic in the Harry Potter novels. It is located in a castle in Scotland and is protected from ordinary Muggle awareness by magical defenses and concealment. Students generally begin at age eleven and study there for seven years.

The school is divided into four houses: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. The Sorting Hat assigns new students to houses, which organize much of school life and create the series’ most recognizable rivalries.

Hogwarts is fictional, although Rowling drew on memories of schools, places, and landscapes in Britain when developing the setting. Other wizarding schools appear in the wider fictional world, including Beauxbatons and Durmstrang, but they are not Harry’s school.
