Which fictional lion is the central character in C.S. Lewis’s Chronicles of Narnia?

The story behind the answer

Aslan is the central lion character in C.S. Lewis’s Chronicles of Narnia.

Aslan is a talking lion and the creator, ruler, and guide of Narnia. He appears throughout the series, though his role differs from book to book. His presence is especially important in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and The Last Battle.

Lewis described Aslan as an imaginative representation of Christ rather than a simple one-to-one allegory. The character combines royal authority, compassion, judgment, and sacrificial action.

Aslan is sometimes confused with other prominent Narnian figures. Mr. Tumnus is a faun, Reepicheep is a mouse, and Puddleglum is a marsh-wiggle; none is the series’ lion ruler.
