Which fashion house uses a Medusa head as its famous logo?

The story behind the answer

Versace uses a Medusa head as its famous logo. The Italian fashion house adopted the image as a central emblem of its visual identity.

Gianni Versace founded the company in Milan in 1978. The Medusa symbol reflects the designer’s interest in classical Greek art, mythology, and ancient decoration. Versace found the image in the floor of a Roman ruin near the family home in Reggio Calabria and chose it because Medusa was memorable and difficult to escape once encountered.

The logo is a stylized fashion mark rather than a literal illustration from one single ancient source. Its appearance has changed across products and campaigns, but the frontal head with snakes remains strongly associated with the brand. It is often confused with the mythological figure’s broader use in ancient protective art, where Gorgon heads served an apotropaic, or evil-averting, purpose.
