Which distillery makes Talisker single malt whisky on Scotland’s Isle of Skye?
Answer
Talisker Distillery
Answer
Talisker Distillery
Talisker Distillery makes Talisker single malt whisky on Scotland’s Isle of Skye.
The distillery stands beside Loch Harport near Carbost, on Skye’s west coast. Hugh MacAskill and his brother Kenneth founded it in 1830, and production began soon afterward. Its coastal setting and distinctive still arrangement helped shape the distillery’s identity.
Talisker is widely associated with maritime notes, peppery spice, smoke, and a pronounced character. Those descriptions are tasting impressions rather than a separate legal category: Talisker is a single malt Scotch whisky because it is made at one distillery from malted barley and distilled in pot stills.
Talisker is part of Diageo’s portfolio and is commonly presented as the Isle of Skye’s best-known single malt. It is easy to confuse the island with Islay, another famous whisky-producing island, but Talisker is located on Skye, while Lagavulin and Bowmore are Islay distilleries.
