Which Disney princess has a pet tiger named Rajah?

The story behind the answer

The Disney princess who has a pet tiger named Rajah is Jasmine.

Jasmine is the princess of Agrabah in Disney’s Aladdin, first released as an animated feature in 1992. Rajah is her loyal Bengal tiger and acts as both companion and protector. Although he does not speak like Aladdin’s monkey Abu or Jafar’s parrot Iago, Rajah communicates through body language, growls and expressive reactions, especially when he distrusts someone near Jasmine.

Jasmine’s character was developed as more than a conventional fairy-tale princess. She is tired of palace confinement, wants to see the world beyond Agrabah and resists having her future decided entirely by royal tradition. Rajah helps express her independence while also giving the palace scenes a powerful animal presence. In the 2019 live-action Aladdin, Rajah returned as Jasmine’s tiger, while the film also added Dalia, a human handmaiden and friend. Rajah is sometimes confused with Abu because both are major animal characters, but Abu is Aladdin’s pet capuchin monkey.
