Which Disney theme park is the most visited in the world?

The story behind the answer

The world’s most visited theme park is Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World in Florida.

Opened on October 1, 1971, Magic Kingdom was the first theme park at Walt Disney World Resort. Its layout draws heavily on Disneyland in California, but it was built around Florida’s much larger resort complex and became the flagship park of Disney World.

Attendance rankings are estimates rather than turnstile totals published by every park. Recent TEA/AECOM reporting counted about 17.72 million visitors at Magic Kingdom in 2023, placing it first worldwide. The park’s enduring popularity comes from its combination of classic attractions, parades, fireworks, and the iconic Cinderella Castle.

A common mix-up is treating Walt Disney World as one theme park; it is a resort containing several separate parks. Disneyland is also a distinct park in California, while Animal Kingdom and EPCOT are neighboring Walt Disney World parks with different themes and attendance figures.
