Which Disney film features the song A Whole New World?

Which Disney film features the song “A Whole New World”? The answer is Aladdin.

“A Whole New World” is the signature romantic song from Disney’s 1992 animated film Aladdin. It plays during the magic-carpet sequence, when Aladdin takes Princess Jasmine beyond the palace and shows her places and possibilities she has never been free to experience.

The song was written by composer Alan Menken and lyricist Tim Rice. In the film, Brad Kane provides Aladdin’s singing voice and Lea Salonga provides Jasmine’s. Its lyrics connect the pair’s airborne adventure with Jasmine’s desire to escape the restrictions of royal life, making the song both a love duet and a turning point in their relationship.

The song became one of Disney’s most celebrated musical successes. It won the Academy Award for Best Original Song and also received major recognition at the Golden Globes and Grammys. A pop version by Peabo Bryson and Regina Belle was released alongside the film’s soundtrack, so listeners may encounter more than one famous recording.
