What is the name of the skunk in Bambi?

The story behind the answer

The skunk in Bambi is named Flower.

Flower is a shy, friendly striped skunk who meets Bambi and Thumper during their childhood adventures in the forest. Bambi mistakes him for an actual flower, and Flower kindly accepts the nickname rather than taking offense. That brief joke becomes one of the film’s most memorable character introductions.

Flower was created specifically for Disney’s 1942 animated film rather than being a major character from Felix Salten’s original novel, Bambi, a Life in the Woods. He returns in later Disney productions, including Bambi II, and is associated with a gentle, bashful personality.

Viewers sometimes confuse Flower with Thumper, Bambi’s rabbit friend, or Faline, Bambi’s childhood friend and later mate. Another interesting detail is that the character is male despite the delicate-sounding name. In the original film, Flower is voiced as a youngster by Stan Alexander and as an adult by Sterling Holloway.
